A gift from the past, free from environmental pollution

The formation of underground salt deposits in natural salt deposits is very special. In contrast to sea salt, which is obtained through the direct evaporation of salt water, ancient salt was formed more than 200 million years ago. Our rock salt from Germany is mined in regions of Northern Germany from deposits of the former Zechenstein Sea. Because of these rock salt deposits, Germany is the region in Europe that is richest in common salt. In addition to German ancient salt, our range also includes the special Himalayan salt or pink crystal salt, which is mined in Pakistan.

In contrast to commercially available table salt, Ursalz is untreated and packaged from the salt stocks without being treated. There are no additives at all. Ursalz contains about 1.2 percent minerals and trace elements such as magnesium, calcium and potassium and is a valuable dietary supplement. Traditionally, healing effects are also attributed to rock salt. Ursalz has not yet been scientifically confirmed as a remedy. However, if you value natural products that preserve their originality and quality

As table salt and bath salt: various uses

In our online shop we offer you wonderful rock salt from Germany and Pakistan in different pack sizes and grain sizes. Are you looking for a special salt to give as a gift? Then our Himalayan crystal salt is ideal for you. With its elegant, delicate pink tint, this salt impresses not only with its quality, but also with its impressive color. If the German origin is important to you because of the short transport routes, we offer rock salt from the popular Erntesegen brand in different sizes. Whether you need a handy 300 g tin or a 12 kg package , we have the right item for every need.

Rock salt is not only a delight as table salt, but also as a bath additive for the body. A 20-minute bath is said to promote blood circulation and strengthen the immune system thanks to the minerals in the salt. People with rheumatism, neurodermatitis or psoriasis are also said to benefit from a relaxing bath with rock salt.

Häufig gestellte Fragen

There is no clear answer to this question, as both types of salt have advantages and disadvantages. Ursalz is untreated and has been well protected from modern environmental influences under the earth's surface. Conventional salt from the supermarket, on the other hand, is usually enriched with iodine and fluoride. Since many people in this country have a lack of iodine in their diet, they benefit from additional minerals in the salt. Since ancient salt does not contain any additives, it does not contain these ingredients.

That depends on the particular sea salt. There is untreated sea salt, which, like ancient salt, contains valuable minerals, and refined sea salt, which does not have such a high mineral density. Many people think sea salt is healthier because it contains iodine, but this assumption is only partially correct. Sea salt contains only a small percentage of the mineral, unlike fortified salt. Ursalz was also completely protected from modern environmental influences, while sea salt can contain harmful substances such as microplastics. If you have to choose between salt from the sea and primordial salt, we would recommend the rock salt.

Due to its naturalness, ancient salt is popular and captivates with its pure taste. However, you should keep a few things in mind when consuming it daily:

  • All salt, whether ancient salt, sea salt or rock salt, should be consumed in moderation. Excessive consumption of salt is harmful to health. The German Nutrition Society recommends a maximum of 6 grams of salt per day.
  • Unlike fortified salt, ancient salt contains no iodine or fluoride.
  • If you only want to consume untreated rock salt, ensure sufficient iodine intake through iodine-rich foods or adequate supplementation.
