Effects of Salus Fennel Honey

Fennel honey combines the beneficial properties of fennel and honey. As this is a herbal medicine, it is only intended for symptom relief. The effect of fennel honey is largely based on tradition and experience. However, there is some scientific evidence that both honey and fennel oil have a health-promoting effect:


  • Honey is said to have a soothing effect on irritated mucous membranes and a dry throat during sore throats, providing a more pleasant feeling.
  • Honey has a cough-suppressing effect, especially in children. Studies have shown that coughing fits were relieved and less bothersome. The cough is also said to subside faster, allowing for better sleep.
  • Essential fennel oil is said to promote healing of cold symptoms. The active ingredients fenchone and trans-anethole are said to help loosen stubborn mucus and promote its removal from the respiratory tract.

100 g syrup contains as active ingredients: 0.034 g bitter fennel oil, 76.0 g honey. Other ingredients: malt extract, water

The following information applies unless your doctor has prescribed Salus Fennel Honey differently. Please adhere to the dosage instructions, otherwise Salus Fennel Honey may not work correctly.

Dosage:

Shake before use.

Children from 6 years and adults take 5 ml several times a day with the enclosed measuring cup.
No more than 20 ml should be taken daily.
Toddlers from 1 year receive proportionally less (2.5 ml with the bottle or in porridge).

Contains invert sugar, malt extract. Please refer to the package insert.

Note for diabetics:

5 ml corresponds to 0.3 BU.
