Tasty tea with a big effect

North of Cape Town in the Cederberg region grows the well-known medicinal plant from which the South African national drink, Rooibos tea, is made. For over 300 years, the plant has been consumed as a beverage by locals in the mountain regions. While many types of tea contain caffeine, Rooibos tea is naturally caffeine-free, making it suitable for pregnant women and children.

The tea is said to have a positive effect on health. Rooibos is rich in minerals and, with regular consumption, is said to regulate digestion, counteract sleep problems, and even reduce the risk of cancer. The flavonoids and antioxidants it contains strengthen the human immune system. In people with an increased risk of cardiovascular diseases, Rooibos tea has been proven to protect against arteriosclerosis.

In addition to its positive health effects, the hot beverage also impresses with its delicious taste. Slightly sweet and pleasantly earthy with gentle, fruity aromas, Rooibos tea can be wonderfully paired with (plant-based) milk and honey.

In contrast to other types of tea, rooibos tea is caffeine-free and can therefore also be consumed safely by pregnant women and children. Furthermore, Rooibos is said to have a variety of positive effects on health, but not all of them have been scientifically confirmed. A scientific study has shown that people with an increased risk of cardiovascular disease benefit from rooibos consumption. The contained flavonoids and antioxidants also have a strengthening effect on our immune system. Many sources also claim that the tea is said to reduce the risk of cancer, but this has not been scientifically proven to date.

Organic rooibos tea is safe to drink every day and at any time of the day. Three to four cups a day have no negative effects on the body or health. Since the tea does not contain caffeine, it can also be consumed before going to bed without any problems.

Rooibos tea has many names in this country. Sometimes it is called red bush tea or rooibos tea. However, all these designations describe the same product. Rooibos tea is made from the Aspalathus linearis plant and grows exclusively in South Africa.
