Dosage:
For gastrointestinal complaints
Adults including the elderly and adolescents aged 12 and over drink 1 cup of tea infusion prepared with 1.5-4 teaspoons (approx. 1.5-4 g) of chamomile flowers 3-4 times a day.
Children aged 6 and over drink 1 cup of tea infusion prepared with 1.5-3 teaspoons (approx. 1.5-3 g) of chamomile flowers 2-4 times a day.
Children aged 2 and over drink 1 cup of tea infusion prepared with 1-1.5 teaspoons (approx. 1-1.5 g) of chamomile flowers 2-4 times a day.
Children aged 6 months and over drink 1 cup of tea infusion prepared with 0.5-1 teaspoon (approx. 0.5-1 g) of chamomile flowers 2-4 times a day.
Preparation:
Pour 150 ml of boiling water over the chamomile flowers and let them steep covered for about 5-10 minutes. Then strain.
Application for inhalation:
For colds
Adults including the elderly and adolescents aged 12 and over inhale several times a day. For each inhalation, pour 100 ml of boiling water over 3-10 teaspoons (approx. 3-10 g) of chamomile flowers.
Children aged 6 and over inhale 1-2 times a day. For each inhalation, pour 100 ml of boiling water over 2-5 teaspoons (approx. 2-5 g) of chamomile flowers.
Application in the oral cavity:
For mild inflammations in the mouth and throat
Adults including the elderly and adolescents aged 12 and over rinse and/or gargle several times a day with an infusion prepared as follows: pour 100 ml of boiling water over 1-5 teaspoons (approx. 1-5 g) of chamomile flowers and let them steep covered for about 5-10 minutes. Then strain.
External application:
As an additive to partial and sitz baths or rinses to support skin and mucous membrane inflammations in the anal and genital area, provided that serious illnesses have been ruled out by a doctor, adults including the elderly and adolescents aged 12 and over take a partial or sitz bath or a rinse several times a day. To prepare a partial or sitz bath or a rinse, 4.5-5 teaspoons (approx. 4.5-5 g) of chamomile flowers are used per 1 litre of water.
As an additive for moist compresses and washes for mild skin inflammations and superficial wounds, adults including the elderly and adolescents aged 12 and over perform washes or moist compresses several times a day with an infusion prepared as follows: pour 150 ml of boiling water over 3-10 teaspoons (approx. 3-10 g) of chamomile flowers and let them steep covered for about 5-10 minutes. Then strain.
