Whole cane sugar
Naturata Sucanat whole cane sugar contains the complete molasses content of the sugarcane. This gives it an earthy appearance and an intensely caramel-like, malty taste. This lends a special aroma particularly to sweet dishes and cakes as well as hot beverages.
Sucanat whole cane sugar still contains the full molasses content of the sugarcane. It is ground, not crystallized, which gives it its brown color and a caramel-malty taste.
Sucanat whole cane sugar comes from various small-scale farms in Latin America, often from Costa Rica. The climatic conditions there are very suitable for growing sugarcane. Since sugarcane must be processed immediately after harvesting, Naturata sources the raw material from the region where a sugar mill is located that is capable of producing the respective type of sugar. This sugar still contains the full molasses content of the sugarcane. After harvesting, the sugarcane is freed from its leaves, crushed, pressed several times between simple rollers, and then squeezed. The fibrous parts are filtered out. To bind fine turbidity in the sugarcane juice, the juice is clarified with a small amount of slaked lime. The sugarcane juice is gently thickened at low temperatures and slight vacuum. After this concentration, the sugarcane syrup is dried in a vacuum at max. 90 °C, ground, sieved, and bottled.
Is hygroscopic, therefore store in a dry place protected from heat.
