General Information
This Demeter raw cane sugar, made from sugar cane, has a relatively neutral taste due to its low molasses content, making it ideal for sweetening all kinds of food and beverages.
Special Features
Together with myclimate, we offset the CO2 emissions generated during the production and transport of this product. We use packaging made from renewable resources for our sugar. This consists of paper and can be recycled after disposal with waste paper.
Production
Raw cane sugar is grown by biodynamic farmers in South and Central America. The climatic conditions are optimal for growing sugar cane. Since sugar cane must be processed immediately after harvesting, Naturata sources the raw material from regions where there is a sugar mill capable of producing the specific type of sugar. After harvesting, the sugar cane is freed from leaves, crushed, pressed several times between simple rollers, and then juiced. The fibrous parts are filtered out. After cleaning, the sugar cane juice is merely thickened at low temperatures and slight vacuum. The highly concentrated thick juice is mixed with a few crystals of unrefined sugar, causing the sugar to crystallize. Once the sugar crystals reach a certain size, they are centrifuged from the remaining thick juice, dried, sieved, and packaged. The molasses content is therefore lower than that of Sucanart whole cane sugar. The smaller crystals and lighter color compared to Demerara are due to a longer processing time.
Usage
Due to its low molasses content, this raw cane sugar has a relatively neutral taste, making it ideal for sweetening all kinds of food and beverages.
Storage Instructions
Is hygroscopic, therefore store in a dry place protected from heat.
