Naturata sea salt with organic algae containing iodine from Spain 500g
General Information
Due to the naturally bound iodine in seaweed, Naturata sea salt with iodine-containing seaweed can make an important contribution to daily iodine intake. With an average salt intake of 6 g per day, Naturata sea salt with iodine-containing seaweed can cover 60% of the recommended daily intake by the German Nutrition Society (DGE).
Special Features
It is not refined or bleached, thus remaining particularly natural. A high degree of drying maintains its free-flowing properties, and the salt does not clump, so anti-caking agents and flow aids are not used. All CO2 emissions arising from the production and transport of the product are compensated by us in cooperation with myclimate. Pure sea salt is not an agricultural product and is therefore not regulated under the EU organic regulation. Sea salt is therefore not available in organic quality.
Production
The sea salt comes from a region in the east of the Algarve (Portugal). It is still produced traditionally and by hand: Seawater is fed into clay-lined basins near the coast, where it evaporates due to sunlight. The raw salt is washed and dried. Using sieves, it is cleaned of stones and impurities and sieved according to different grain sizes. The iodine-containing organic algae are hand-harvested wild on the Spanish Atlantic coast and mixed into the finished salt.
